Camp Kesem at Indiana State University Announces Plans to Support Children Impacted by a Parent’s Cancer

Camp Kesem at Indiana State University, a nationwide community driven by passionate college student leaders that supports children through and beyond their parent’s cancer, is pleased to announce its plans for Giving Tuesday 2019. Giving Tuesday will be held on Tuesday, December 3.

Giving Tuesday, a giving movement by the UN Foundation which follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday, kicks off the holiday giving season with a day dedicated to giving – harnessing the power of social media and the generosity of people to bring about real change in their communities.

This year, Camp Kesem at Indiana State University will partner with Giving Tuesday by launching the #AnswerIsKesem hashtag campaign – drawing global attention via social media to Kesem’s mission.

Kesem is a nationwide community, driven by passionate college student leaders, that supports children through and beyond their parent’s cancer. Kesem’s flagship program, Camp Kesem, operates 125 free summer camps across the country for children ages 6 to 18 who have been impacted by a parent’s cancer. Kesem programs have a lasting impact on children by providing them a peer-support network that understands their unique needs, builds confidence and strengthens their communication skills. In 2019, Kesem served 10,000 children coast-to-coast – all funded by generous donations from individuals and corporate support. Camp Kesem at Indiana State University was founded in 2018 and supports children in the Wabash Valley and surrounding areas by providing a week-long summer camp experience and year-long peer support. Camp Kesem at Indiana State University is operated by 30 student volunteers and serves 20-30 campers ages 6-18 per year.
