Brownsburg Native and High School Alum Corporal Jeff Woodward Promoted to Sergeant

Indianapolis, IN – Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter has announced the promotion of Corporal Jeffrey Woodward of Plainfield to the position of Sergeant. Woodward was chosen through a process which includes a written test, an oral interview and a culmination of seniority, education and overall job performance.

Sergeant Woodward is a native of Brownsburg Indiana and a 1991 graduate of Brownsburg High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Indiana University in 1996. Woodward was selected to attend the 56th Indiana State Police Recruit academy and was appointed to the position of Trooper on December 13th, 1998. His first duty assignment was to the Bremen District where he patrolled until transferring to the Indianapolis District in 2000. During his career Woodward has been a member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon where he served as a Grenadier, he is also a speed timing device instructor and spent time on the Executive Protection Detail. He served four years as a detective in the Gaming Division before transferring back to the Indianapolis District where he patrolled the west side of Indianapolis. Jeff was an original member of a special four man traffic enforcement squad focused on reducing crashes in the Indianapolis Area.

In his new position Sergeant Woodward will be assigned to General Headquarters and will manage all functions of the Department’s Rules, Regulations and Standard Operating Procedures. He will also serve as the Department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance coordinator.

Sergeant Woodward currently resides in Plainfield with his wife Kim and their three children
