Fifteen Brownsburg High School seniors signed National Letters of Intent to continue their education and their athletic careers at the collegiate level. These student athletes gathered with family, friends and coaches at Brownsburg High School’s Winter Signing Day, February 6th.
Brownsburg football defensive lineman Lawson Aiken will play for the Leathernecks of Western Illinois University. Aiken was a member of the Indiana Football Coaches Association Region 6 All-Star team in his senior season and a member of the Class 6A All-State team this year. He was also All-HCC Conference 1st Team Defense this year. A multi-sport athlete, last weekend Lawson won the IHSAA Semi-State wrestling title at 220 pounds. Varsity Head Football Coach John Hart says, “Logan’s commitment in the weight room and his passion to play Division I football make him a very special player. We wish him well at Western Illinois.”
Cade Allison will continue his lacrosse career and education with the Vikings of Missouri Valley College. Allison has participated in lacrosse for three years in Brownsburg and varsity tennis for two years.
The University of Findlay welcomes Brownsburg senior Andrew Boulton to play soccer for the Oilers. Boulton played soccer for Brownsburg for four years, lettering in his senior season as a goalkeeper. Brownsburg Varsity Head Boys Soccer Coach Josh Brown says, “Andrew was always wanting to make himself better and has the skill-set and determination to be successful at the next level. We will be rooting for him to have a great college career.”
Brownsburg’s Tyrone Griffin has signed a letter of intent to continue his education and play football for Indiana State University. Griffin was a four-year letter winner in football and plans to earn his fourth in track and field this spring. He was named to the All-HCC Conference team twice at outside linebacker. BHS Varsity Head Football Coach John Hart shares, “Tyrone’s nickname on the team was ‘The Freak’. He is an incredible talent with a combination of speed, size, and athleticism.”
Jack Gromosky will continue his education and his lacrosse career for the Falcons of Concordia University Wisconsin. Gromosky is a three-year veteran of the Brownsburg lacrosse team and co-captain of the team in his senior season.
Brownsburg wrestler Thierry Jean-Baptiste has signed a National Letter of Intent to wrestle and continue his education at Cumberland University. Jean-Baptiste is the 2019 Sectional and Regional wrestling title holder at 170 pounds, HCC Conference Champ, and a State Qualifier. He is also a three-year varsity letter winner in boys soccer. BHS Varsity Head Wrestling Coach Darrick Snyder is proud of this wrestler’s tremendous work ethic. “Thierry is exactly what we look for in a Brownsburg wrestler. He has become an elite wrestler with a tireless work ethic the past 4 years.”
Brownsburg’s Bryce Kirtz will continue his education and football career as he signs to join the Northwestern University Wildcats. Kirtz earned three varsity letters in football and track and field and was named to the All-HCC Conference team in 2016, 2017, and 2018 and All-State the last two seasons. BHS Varsity Head Football Coach John Hart wishes Bryce well. “He has tremendous talent and as a national D1 recruit, he has always represented BHS with class and humility.”
Central State University welcomes Brownsburg senior Richard Lang, IV to play basketball for the Marauders. Lang is a three-year letter winner in boys basketball with two in track and field going into his senior season. The Bulldog center helped lead BHS to championships at Sectional (2017), HCC Conference (2018), and Hendricks County (2018 & 2019). Brownsburg Varsity Head Boys Basketball Coach Steve Lynch says, “Richard has an excellent work ethic and a tremendous attitude. He has continued to develop as a student athlete and has been a great teammate. We are very excited to see Richard continue his career with Coach Price and we wish him the best of luck at Central State.”
Brownsburg golfer Kyleigh Leaf will play for the Knights of Bellarmine. Kyleigh earned four letters in basketball and four in golf at Brownsburg. She was also All-HCC Conference in golf in 2018 and has served as an Athletic Ambassador at BHS for the last three years. Varsity Head Girls Golf Coach Phyllis Miller says, “Kyleigh has not only become a strong leader because of her incredible work ethic but also because of her undeniable motivation to succeed at all levels, regardless of obstacles. I cannot over-emphasize what this young lady has brought to our program, from hard work, to dedication, to willingness to lead for the good of the team. I will miss her greatly!”
Chasen Mahlman will continue his lacrosse career and education with the warriors of Indiana Institute of Technology. He has earned Varsity letters in each of the last three seasons and was First Team All-Conference Goalie in 2018.
Illinois State University welcomes Brownsburg senior Jason Meeks to play football for the Redbirds. Meeks moved in from out of state for his senior season and had an immediate impact on the offensive line. Brownsburg Varsity Head Football Coach John Hart says, “Jason worked hard in the weight room and gained 50 pounds of muscle this year. We are proud of all he has accomplished and how he worked himself into a Division 1 player.”
Brownsburg’s Alison Ray has signed a letter of intent to continue her education and run cross country and track at Marian University. Ali was a four-year letter winner in cross country and plans to earn her fourth in track and field this spring. She was an All-Sectional performer in cross country in 2017 and 2018, All-County in 2017, and competed at the 2017 IHSAA State Meet. She also received the Cross Country Most Improved Runner in 2017 and Mental Attitude Award in 2016. In Track, Ali was a Regional qualifier in the 3200 in 2018. BHS Varsity Head Girls Cross Country Coach Craig Beckner shares, “Ali has been a huge part of our team’s success, not only with her running, but also as a great teammate, friend, and leader to those around her.” BHS Varsity Head Girls Track Coach Julie Waggoner says, “We are extremely excited for her to continue her running career at the next level. She has been a great teammate and has shown what dedication and hard work can do to make you successful.”
BHS senior Logan Replogle will study and continue her swimming career for the Purple Aces of the University of Evansville. A four-year letter winner in swimming for Brownsburg, Logan was BHS Team Captain in her senior year, Co-Most Valuable Swimmer in 2017, was the 2017 Sectional Champ in the 200IM and a State Qualifier in many events in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. BHS Varsity Head Swim Coach Keith Gast says, “Logan has always been a leader within the program and an important part of our program for all four years. She will be missed without question, but we can’t wait to see what she does at the University of Evansville!”
The University of Evansville welcomes Hannah Thomas to continue her education and play golf for the Purple Aces. Hannah was an IHSAA State Qualifier in 2017, Regional Qualifier in 2016, 2017, and 2018, All-County in 2016 and 2017, all-HCC Conference in 2018 and was named MVP in 2018. Varsity Head Girls Golf Coach Phyllis Miller says, “This young lady is a wonderful example of what all coaches hope to have on their teams. She is a respectful, considerate, and humble player. She is also a strong student athlete who always places her education first. I am truly blessed to know her not only as a golfer, but, more importantly, as a human being!”
Brownsburg’s Rachel Young as signed with Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri to continue her education and play softball for the Comets. Rachel played catcher, second base and outfield in her three seasons for the Bulldogs. Varsity Head Softball Coach Keith Brown says “”Rachael has worked very hard during her High School career to develop into a player that can compete at the next level. She is a versatile player that can play multiple positions and adds a solid bat with Home Run power. We would like to congratulate Rachael and wish her all the best as a future Comet.”
