INDIANAPOLIS, IN, February 5, 2025 – In order to continue to meet the growing demand for effective grief support programming, Brooke’s Place is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Kingsway Christian Church, located at 7981 E County Rd 100 N, Avon, IN 46123. On February 4th, Brooke’s Place started offering ongoing peer-based grief support groups for children, teens, young adults, and their adult caregivers in Hendrick’s County on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Many of the favorite components of a Brooke’s Place night will be present at this new location, including the pizza dinner for families, the expression room, and the volcano room.
Brooke’s Place is currently seeking dedicated individuals to volunteer at the Westside location. These volunteers will provide a safe and supportive environment for grieving children and their caregivers, and no counseling background is required. Apply by February 17 to join the two-day March training (March 7 and 14 from 8 AM to 5 PM).
“We are excited to be able to serve the broader Central Indiana area with this new location in Hendricks County. The ongoing support group helps to meet grieving children and families where they are, both emotionally and physically” stated Executive Director Theresa Brun.
A projected 1 in 10 Indiana children will experience the death of a sibling or parent by the time they are 18 years old, resulting in over 154,000 children being impacted. For these children, important grief support services can make the difference between a healthy grief journey and one fraught with anxiety, depression, isolation, and other academic or behavioral issues. With this new partnership, Brooke’s Place is a step closer to ensuring that every child in Central Indiana living with grief feels safe, supported, and understood.
