On April 6th 2016 at approximately 6:00 p.m., the Avon Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle accident in the 1700 block of South County Road 525 East in Avon. Upon their arrival, responding officers with the Avon Police Department and the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department located a single vehicle accident in which a red Ford Fusion had struck a tree on the west edge of the roadway. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 17 year old Jonathan Legg, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Avon Police Department has worked closely with the Avon Community School Corporation to facilitate the support system needed for Jonathan’s family. Jonathan was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and lived with his mother and step-father in Avon. Jonathan was a student at Avon High School where he was a member of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) as well as the Avon High School Marching Black and Gold, Avon High School Symphonic Band and the Avon High School Jazz Band. Jonathan is remembered by his family as a good big brother to his three younger siblings and the fact that he loved hunting, shooting basketball, and playing video games.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jonathan’s family and friends during such a difficult time. The accident remains under investigation by the Avon Police Department at this time. Drugs or alcohol are not believed to be involved in this incident.
