A Two Vehicle Accident Sends Three to the Hospital

Vigo County – This afternoon at approximately 12:25 p.m., officers from the Putnamville State Police Post responded to a two vehicle accident on State Road 46 at the westbound Interstate 70 on-ramp, which sent three to the hospital.

The preliminary crash investigation by Trooper Gerald Stump, of the Putnamville Post, revealed that Julie A. Corbin, age 54, of Linton, IN, was driving a 2019 Kia, west on State Road 46 at the intersection of the westbound on-ramp to Interstate 70.  Corbin, who was attempting to get onto Interstate 70, failed to observe a 2010 Dodge pickup, traveling east on State Road 46, driven by Heather E. Sherman, age 40, of Terre Haute, IN.  Corbin pulled directly into the path of Sherman’s pickup truck, which struck the Kia on the passenger side. The impact of the crash caused Corbin’s vehicle to make a complete spin, eventually coming to rest facing east on the westbound Interstate 70 on-ramp.

Corbin, a passenger in her vehicle, and Sherman were all transported from the crash scene, via ambulance, to Regional Hospital.  All individuals involved suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Corbin was cited for failure to yield.

Drugs and alcohol are not a factor in the accident.

Trooper Stump was assisted at the crash scene by Master Trooper Rich Reynolds, Riley Fire Department, Trans Care, and Peffley and Hinshaw Wrecker Service.
