Day Drinking Leads to a DUI Four Times the Legal Limit

Vigo County – Wednesday, December 18, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Master Trooper Rich Reynolds from the Putnamville State Police Post, responded to a single vehicle accident at the State Road 641 bypass and McDaniel Road.   

The preliminary crash investigation by Master Trooper Reynolds revealed that Regina R. Ames, age 59, of Fillmore, IN, was driving a 2013 GMC and was attempting to merge onto State Road 641 South from McDaniel Road.  Ames over steered and veered off the roadway onto the berm and struck a guardrail.  She continued traveling south for another 175 feet until her vehicle became disabled. Further investigation by Master Trooper Reynolds determined that Ames displayed signs of impairment and that she had a blood alcohol content of .36%.  Ames received minor injuries from the accident and was transported to Regional Hospital for medical care.  Once cleared medically, Ames was arrested and taken to the Vigo County Jail where she is currently being held on bond.

  • Operating a vehicle with a BAC .15 or more, Class A Misdemeanor 
  • Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Endangering a Person, Class C Misdemeanor

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
