Donnelly Helps Pass Bipartisan Legislation to Improve FAA, Enhance Air-Passenger Safety

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly helped the Senate pass bipartisan legislation to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that makes significant passenger-friendly improvements, invests in airport infrastructure, and enhances safety for air travelers. The legislation also includes a Donnelly-supported amendment to help protect travelers in parts of the airport outside of security screening, better vet airport employees with access to secure areas, and upgrade security for international flights coming to the United States, particularly from countries that lack state-of-the-art screening equipment. The bill would reauthorize the FAA through September 2017.

Donnelly said, “Safe, efficient, passenger-friendly air travel is essential to our economic success in Indiana and across the country. This bipartisan legislation would make infrastructure investments and improvements we need to keep our airports competitive and protect Hoosier families from the diverse, dynamic threats that we face.”
