Plainfield Police Department Seizes 187 Pounds of Methamphetamine and 3 Pounds of Fentanyl

Plainfield, IN – On Tuesday October 22, 2024, the Plainfield Police Department conducted a traffic stop on interstate I-70 that resulted in the seizure of 187 pounds of methamphetamine and 3 pounds of fentanyl. Officer TJ Peters and Officer Eric Sugrue were conducting traffic enforcement on interstate I-70 near the Plainfield exit when Officer Peters observed a passenger truck commit multiple traffic violations. Officer Peters conducted a traffic stop on the truck near the 68-mile marker of I-70 with Officer Sugrue assisting. After several suspicious indicators were observed, Officer Peters then deployed his K9 partner Echo to conduct a free air sniff of the exterior of the truck. K9 Echo indicated to the presence of a narcotic odor emitting from the rear of the truck.

Upon executing a search of the truck, officers located a large black 50-gallon work tote in the rear of the truck bed. Inside the tote, officers located multiple bags of suspected methamphetamines. Also, in the rear of the truck was a large black trash bag that contained a cardboard box. Inside the cardboard box were additional bags of methamphetamine along with 3 packages containing pressed fentanyl pills. In total, Officers Peters (K9 Echo) and Sugrue located approximately 187 pounds of methamphetamine and approximately 3 pounds of pressed fentanyl pills (photos included). Two adult male occupants of the truck were arrested and booked into the Hendricks County Jail for Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamines and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Narcotic Drug. Thanks to the great police work of these officers and K9 Echo, these dangers narcotics are off the streets of Hendricks County.

This is an ongoing investigation and nothing else will be released at this time.

All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
