INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) detectives are investigating the shooting death of an unidentified male. IMPD officers were dispatched at approximately 8:20a.m. to the 800 block of W 26th St on a call of a body located in the alley.
Officers located a black male, in his late 30’s or early 40’s, who had injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. EMS personnel pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. IMPD homicide detectives responded to the scene and canvassed the area for witnesses and additional evidence. Homicide detectives have not released a possible motive or suspect information for this incident.
The Marion County-Indianapolis Forensic Services Agency responded to the scene to collect possible forensic evidence. The victim will be positively identified by the Marion County Coroner’s Office. Upon notification of the victim’s next-of-kin, his name will be made public.
