Long-Term Binford Boulevard Ramp Closure Through 2025 Expected to Begin Tuesday

INDIANAPOLIS (June 30, 2022) – The long-term closure of the northbound Binford Boulevard on-ramp to westbound I-465 is expected to begin on or after Tuesday morning, July 5.  A closure of about three years is needed to make room for construction and help keep I-465 traffic flowing during the Clear Path 465 project. Traffic exiting eastbound I-465 onto I-69 northbound will no longer have to weave and merge with traffic exiting northbound Binford Boulevard.

Handsfree use of mobile mapping apps with real-time traffic is encouraged for local drivers seeking alternate routes.

This is the first of three long-term ramp closures expected to begin this summer. The Allisonville Road on-ramp to eastbound I-465 and the Shadeland Avenue/56th Street on-ramp to northbound I-465 are both expected to close later this summer and remain closed into early 2024.

Allisonville Road expected to reopen Friday morning

Allisonville Road is expected to reopen to through traffic between the I-465 ramps early Friday morning, July 1.

Dry weather allowed bridge crews to resurface the bridge deck, helping seal off the driving surface from water and road salt to prevent potholes and future bridge repairs. Additional sidewalk work was completed near the bridge to improve the crosswalks.

Weekend I-465 repaving

Repaving of the I-465 shoulders through the work zone is expected to take a break for the July 4th holiday weekend. Single-lane closures are expected to resume the weekend of July 8-10 along eastbound I-465 from the White River to Allisonville Road.

Two weekend closures of the Allisonville Road on-ramp to eastbound I-465 are expected in late July ahead of the long-term ramp closure.
