Would you like to get your Ham Radio License? Hendricks County Senior Services encourages you to participate in the Amateur Radio Classes held at the Senior Center beginning in January. The classes are open to anybody who has an interest in amateur radio in Hendricks County. There are no fees or preregistration required for the classes, but there are charges for the training materials and taking the test to get the amateur radio license. More details will be made available during the class.
Saturday classes being offered include: NIMS (National Incident Management System) on January 16 and January 23 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. The topics covered will include how to take the on-line FEMA courses and tests. On January 30 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm the training class will cover the different digital amateur radio modes that can be used in amateur radio.
Additional classes will begin on Wednesday, January 27. There will be three levels of training, Technician, General and Extra, for those who are interested in obtaining their first amateur radio license, or those who have their first license and wish to move up to the next level. The training classes will start on the 27th of January and will meet Wednesday nights from 7:00pm to 9:00pm for approx. nine weeks, with a test to follow in each level of license.
