IMPD Covert Robbery Detectives arrest two men for several armed robberies

INDIANAPOLIS – During the months of March and April 2020, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s (IMPD) Covert Robbery Unit had been investigating five armed business robberies. Using many investigative tactics detectives developed Cameron Dillon as a suspect.  

Detectives identified a residence where Cameron Dillon was frequenting. On Monday April 20, 2020 Detectives observed Dillion arrive at and enter 55 N. Whittier Place, Indianapolis. Covert Robbery Detectives and members of the IMPD SWAT Team approached the residence and verbally ordered Dillon to exit the residence. Dillion exited the front of 55 N. Whittier Place, and was taken into custody without incident. 
A search warrant was sought and granted, evidence from robberies in January 2020 was recovered. Dillon was transported to the robbery office where he was interviewed.  Dillon admitted his involvement in the following armed business robberies.

January 24, 2020  5061 Southeastern Ave.-Advance Auto Sales 
January 24, 2020  3906 E. 16th St-Dairy Queen  
January 25, 2020  8702 E. Washington St. Auto Zone

Cameron Dillon was arrested for armed robbery and active robbery warrants out of Hamilton County. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office charged Cameron Dillon with three counts of armed robbery.

Darrion Bynum who was already in custody was also charged as a co-defendant for the robberies of Advance Auto and Dairy Queen.

A charge of a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
