New program on WYRZ “Health in Hendricks County” aims to keep residents informed during COVID-19 pandemic

HENDRICKS COUNTY – As the country has gone into self quarantine, the need for information about the COVID-19 virus seems to be everyone’s goal. We want to know how to protect ourselves and what others are doing locally. Other key questions include 1) What businesses are open, and 2) Can I go out or into town? The list goes on and on.

Thanks to a Rapid Response grant from the Hendricks County Community Foundation, WYRZ will be answering those questions with a new radio program called Health in Hendricks County. It airs on Thursdays at 7pm on 98.9FM and will continue for the length of the COVID-19 pandemic. Executive Director of the Hendricks County Community Foundation William Rhodehamel said, “We are pleased to support WYRZ and to help their efforts to keep the county informed during this crisis”.

The program will be hosted by station manager Shane Ray with occasional reports from other WYRZ staff members and volunteers. Each week the guests will be from local nonprofits as well as newsmakers from Hendricks County and the surrounding area.  The first episode will include guests from the Hendricks County Health Department, the Hendricks County Community Foundation, and Troy Hanna of the Rolling Hope Canned Food Drive. After the initial broadcast on 98.9FM, each program will be podcasted on the station website at www.wyrz.org.
