Hendricks County Economic Development Partnership focuses efforts in response to COVID-19

AVON, Indiana – Hendricks County Economic Development Partnership (HCEDP) is directing efforts, including the relaunch of a resource to assist companies and local employees affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in partnership with the Hendricks College Network and Visit Hendricks County.

“The impact on the retail and hospitality industry is significant,” said Jaime Bohler Smith, executive director of Visit Hendricks County. “1 in 10 Americans is employed because of tourism dollars, and with the current crisis Hendricks County is experiencing, furloughs and layoffs are happening at our hotels.”

A pivotal resource that will help is the HendricksJobs.com website managed by the HCEDP. In the following days, HCEDP will maximize the use of the website, including:

  • Proactively contacting large employers to gather and publicize their job orders
  • Working with medical supply chain providers to ensure they have everything they need
  • Expanding the website to include job opportunities throughout Central Indiana, not just Hendricks County
  • Working collaboratively with the local hospitality industry to provide direct lines of access to furloughed employees

“HCEDP is committed to helping those facing layoffs by connecting them with organizations that consistently seek qualified workers,” said Jeff Pipkin, executive director of HCEDP. “This is the ideal time for our logistics partners to connect with potential employees who may not have considered the logistics industry in the past.”

In addition to the job postings, the SkillUp Hendricks Logistics Sector Partnership (HLSP) is providing remaining grant dollars to be made available for training.

“We are fortunate to have programs and funding in place to help employees who need training to make a transition into a new industry,” added Brandy Wethington Perrill with the Hendricks College Network.

The Hendricks College Network is a partner with the HCEDP in the Hendricks Logistics Sector Partnership. Funds are available for training and education in the logistics and supply chain industry.

HCEDP encourages all those with access to social media to stay up to date with efforts to support our employees and industry by checking our social media pages regularly, as well as Hendricks County Community Foundation, Visit Hendricks County and Hendricks College Network.
