IMPD Officers track down and arrest robbery suspect

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Robbery detectives arrest 40-year-old, Richard Beeler for his role in the robbery of Poor Mann’s Tire shop located at 5061 East 34th street.

Just before 3:00 p.m. on November 26, 2018, IMPD North district officers were dispatched to 5061 East 34th street reference a robbery which just occurred.  Officers spoke to the victims and gathered a description of the person and vehicle involved in the robbery.  While officers were on the scene, one of the victims began tracking his phone which was taken by the suspect.  North district officers communicated information to IMPD Southeast district officers of the location in which the phone was known to be.

Southeast district officers responded to 2964 Shelby street and located in the parking lot a vehicle matching the vehicle described by the victims.  As officers approached the vehicle, Richard Beeler exited his vehicle quickly, attempting to distract the officers and disobeying their commands.  A physical altercation occurred as they were trying to apprehend him.  Richrad Beeler then ran from officers.  Officers pursued him to the 1000 block of Albany Street where they were able to make apprehension.

IMPD Robbery unit detectives responded.  They questioned and arrested Richard Beeler.

The outstanding communication between officers of different districts and the cooperation of the community is what builds the foundation of community policing.
