Indianapolis, IN – Monday evening just after 8:30, emergency responders were called to the scene of a multiple vehicle serious crash on I-465 southbound just north of Rockville Road. The massive crash scene involved two semi tractor-trailers, a box truck and a pick-up truck. Three drivers were critically injured, one of which required 12 minutes of extrication by the Wayne Township Fire Department. All four drivers were transported to area hospitals.
Preliminary investigation has determined a semi tractor-trailer became disabled in the center lane of the interstate, a box truck then rear ended the semi and spun into the path of a second semi tractor-trailer. A pick-up truck then ran into the back of the crashed vehicles. Indiana State Police Crash reconstructionists are currently on scene investigating. One southbound lane will remain open during the lengthy clean-up.
Due to the severity of injuries the names of those involved are being withheld at this time. There is no further information to release.
