Failure to Yield Results in Crash with Injuries in Sullivan County

Sullivan County—This morning at 9:00, Indiana State Police and Sullivan County emergency agencies responded to a two-vehicle crash in the southbound lanes of US 41 at County Road 500 North. 

Preliminary investigation revealed a black 2012 Dodge Charger, driven by 78-year-old Samuel Dunfee of Sullivan, Indiana was eastbound on CR 500 N and attempted to turn south onto US 41. In doing so, Dunfee pulled into the path of a southbound 2009 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by 24-year-old Brandy Garretson of Terre Haute, IN.  

Peggy Dunfee (wife), age 75, was transported by private vehicle to Sullivan County Community Hospital for treatment of chest pain. Brandy Garretson and her passenger, 26-year-old Tyler McGoldrick of Terre Haute, IN. were both transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital for treatment of general pain. 

Samuel Dunfee was cited for failure to yield the right of way. He was not injured. 

The crash was investigated by ISP Master Trooper Tom Hanks. Assisting were ISP Master Trooper Polly Blackburn, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, Sullivan City Fire/Rescue, Sullivan County EMS, and Morrison Towing. 

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
