IMPD officers shot at while following up on a suspicious vehicle

INDIANAPOLIS-On January 23, 2018, at approximately 10:34 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Quick Mart located in the 2100 block of N. Mitthoeffer Road. on a call of a suspicious person.  East District officers and the Flex team responded to the call.  When officers arrived they located the car and observed several individual’s getting in and out of a red Chevy Impala.  Several officers in unmarked police vehicles followed the vehicle out of the parking lot.

After following the vehicle, one of the officers in an unmarked police vehicle was in front of the Impala when the occupants began shooting at the officer in his vehicle.  Officers responded swiftly and were able to take the occupants of the vehicle into custody.  The occupants were taken to IMPD Homicide Office where they were interviewed.

Detectives arrested 18-year-old Cameron Davis for Attempted Murder, Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon and Carrying a Handgun without a License.  Detectives arrested 19-year-old Rasoull Alexander for an unrelated warrant.  The Marion County Prosecutors Office will review the case and make a charging decision.
