Thursday’s single-lane restrictions begin at 7 a.m. and continue through Friday at 2 p.m. Single lane restrictions in both directions of I-74 will continue next week starting Monday morning (JUNE 13), continuing through Friday afternoon.
INDOT will implement rolling roadblocks on I-74 approaching the S.R. 3 bridge next week during overnight hours Wednesday and Thursday (JUNE 15 & 16)—weather permitting. Traffic slowdowns impacting all lanes one-direction-at-a-time should begin after 5 p.m. both evenings.
Milestone is INDOT’s contractor for this $3,748,040 design-build bridge replacement project which is rebuilding S.R. 3’s northbound bridge over I-74 first. The new superstructure is a 4-span bulb-T concrete beam bridge measuring 244 feet in length with 43 feet of clear roadway side to side. The S.R. 3 southbound superstructure will be similarly replaced in late summer.
The four inside ramps from eastbound I-74 to northbound S.R. 3, westbound I-74 to southbound S.R. 3, southbound S.R. 3 to eastbound I-74 and northbound S.R. 3 to westbound I-74 are closed. Motorists are maintaining access via outside ramps after utilizing S.R. 3 crossovers and making left turns at stop signs. Wide loads are being detoured around the construction site via I-74, U.S. Highway 421 and S.R. 3.
