$14.6 Million Project on I-74 will improve ten bridges in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announce a project to improve ten bridges on I-74 in Montgomery County is underway. The contractor placed barrels on Tuesday taking traffic down to one lane so they may begin building the crossovers for motorists to be shifted into one lane in each direction in the eastbound lanes from just west of U.S. 231 to just east of State Road 32. Once the crossovers are completed traffic traveling eastbound will have a 13’ travel lane and westbound traffic will have a 15’ lane.

This project includes replacing the decks on the bridges over Little Sugar Creek, State Road 47, Sugar Creek, the CSX Railroad, U.S. 231 and over Black Creek.  ICC Group, Inc. was awarded the $14.6 million project.  The contractor will be working on the I-74 westbound bridges during this year and on the eastbound bridges during the 2019 construction season. The contract completion date is scheduled in May of 2020.
