Westbound I-70 From Downtown to West Side Opens More Than Two Days Ahead of Schedule

INDIANAPOLIS – Contractors for the Indiana Department of Transportation have reopened all westbound lanes of Interstate 70 between I-65 at the South Split and I-465 on the west side of Indianapolis. Prime contractor E & B Paving and its subcontractors worked around the clock to complete asphalt paving, concrete pavement restoration, joint replacement, and other repair work to improve conditions and extend the life of I-70.

Westbound I-70 will be available to motorists for the Friday afternoon commute and for visitors accessing Indianapolis International Airport from Downtown or traveling to points west of Indianapolis.

All lanes in both directions were closed Friday, July 26 and expected to reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, August 5.

Eastbound I-70 lanes and entrance ramps remain closed at this time as construction work continues. Crews are on pace to reopen eastbound lanes and access points by the Monday morning deadline, if not sooner.
