Two Vehicle Crash Claims the Life of an Indianapolis Man

Indianapolis, IN – A crash between a passenger car and a dump truck has claimed the life of one person. At 7:53 Saturday morning emergency crews were dispatched to a serious crash on the ramp from I-465 eastbound to U.S. 31 on the city’s south side. When first responders arrived they found a heavily damaged dump truck with the driver entrapped in the wreckage and the driver was unresponsive. Indianapolis Fire Department began extrication and were later assisted by Garner’s Wrecker Service. Once the driver was removed from the dump truck he was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Marion County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene to recovered the remains. The driver of the dump truck was identified as 65 year old Ricky O’Neill of Indianapolis.

Preliminary investigation has determined a 2006 Pontiac, driven by Daniel Kahre, was allegedly changing lanes and struck the side of the dump truck. The impact caused the dump truck to run off the road, break through a guardrail then hit an embankment and overturn. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash. The driver of the Pontiac was not injured.
