INDIANAPOLIS: On March 3, 2019, IMPD Covert Robbery Unit detectives were investigating after a series of food delivery robberies. Multiple IMPD units assisted throughout the course of the investigation including K9, SWAT, North District Officers and the FBI.
Just after 11:00 p.m., a Donato’s Pizza Delivery driver was robbed. Two suspects were seen running from the robbery and were later identified as 17-year-old Tywon Allen and 17-year-old Julian Petty. During this time detectives, K9 and SWAT officers engaged the two suspects, prior to them making it back to their apartment, a perimeter was established. Tywon Allen was tased and then apprehended by a canine. While Tywon Allen was running, a handgun was seen falling out of his waistband area. This firearm was recovered and found to be a stolen (Tauras 9mm Semi-Automatic). Indianapolis EMS arrived onscene and transported Allen to Eskenazi in good condition. Allen was placed under arrest for Robbery L3, RLE, Carrying a Handgun W/O license and possession of Marijuana. Evidence from the robbery was found of the robbery on Allen’s person.
Canine Units then continued to search for the second suspect (Julian Petty), while north district officers maintained the perimeter. Petty was located shortly after, hiding in a tree, he was not dog bit. Petty was brought to the Robbery office. Petty was arrested for Robbery L3. Through the course of this investigation detectives learned that Tywon Allen and Julian Petty were also the suspects in the following armed robberies.
Tywan Allen and Julian Petty were charged with Robbery-F3 in the following cases which can be cleared by arrest:

- 01/19/2019 – IP190006919 – 7917 Blue Jay Ln – China Kitchen
- 02/22/2019 – IP190019007- 7917 Blue Jay Ln- #D- Jacks Pizza
- 03/03/2019- IP190022090- 7933 Blue Jay Ln-#D- Marcos Pizza
Julian Petty was additionally charged for Robbery-L3 in the following case which can be cleared by arrest:
- 02/03/2019 – IP190011741-7917 Blue Jay Ln Apt D- Pizza Hut
This is another example of how IMPD’s enhanced collaboration with federal and local law enforcement partners continues to yield positive results for the Indianapolis community.
A charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
