Indianapolis, IN – Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter has announced the promotion of 11 year veteran Edward Kaucher to the position of Sergeant to serve as a pilot in the aviation section.
Sergeant Kaucher grew up in New Palestine and is a 1997 graduate of New Palestine High School. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana State University in Aerospace Technology. Kaucher graduated from the 67th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in the summer of 2007 and was assigned to the Evansville District where he patrolled Gibson County. In 2014 he returned to his home area with a transfer to the Indianapolis Post, he was assigned to patrol Shelby County. During his career Kaucher has been a member of the bomb squad, the Honor Guard, a field training officer, and an emergency vehicle operations instructor.
As an Indiana State Police Pilot Sergeant Kaucher will be responsible for planning and directing maintenance of department aircraft as well as ensuring safe and efficient operation of department aircraft. He will conduct transportation flights for state and department personnel, will assist other agencies with air support as needed, and conduct routine flight patrols.
Sergeant Kaucher currently resides in Franklin with his wife and two children.
