Secretary of State Lawson, Auditor of State Klutz and Treasurer of State Mitchell Sworn In by Chief Justice Rush

Following the ceremony, each officials released the following statements:

Secretary of State Connie Lawson: “It is an honor to serve as Indiana’s 61st Secretary of State, and I am looking forward to the opportunities this next term will bring. We have already achieved a great deal, and in the next four years I will keep working to make it easier to do business in the state, expand our financial literacy outreach to help citizens of all ages make wise budgetary decisions, and ensure that every Hoosier vote is safe and secure. I congratulate Treasurer Mitchell and Auditor Klutz on taking their oaths of office, and I look forward to working closely with them to render excellent public service to the people of Indiana.”

Auditor of State Tera Klutz: “As I take the oath to begin my 4-year elected term as Indiana’s Chief Financial Officer, I am humbled and honored for the opportunity to serve the people of Indiana. I am excited to continue the good work that my team has accomplished over the last 2 years making Indiana government more transparent, more efficient and more effective. I congratulate all of Indiana’s new office holders taking their oaths this month from the local officials to the national officials, and especially Secretary Lawson and Treasurer Mitchell with me today. I pray for wisdom and understanding as we make decisions for the people of Indiana and that we treat everyone with respect and civility and that we are afforded the same as we accomplish the work before us.”

Treasurer of State Kelly Mitchell: “I am honored to begin my second term serving Hoosiers as the 55th Indiana Treasurer of State. I will give my best effort to maximize the money entrusted to my office by the citizens of Indiana. I know that every dollar my office earns in interest income for the State is one less dollar that taxpayers will have to pay in taxes to fund government services.”
