Rokita Proposes Tax Reform Amendment to Protect Medical Innovations and Jobs

Washington, DC–Congressman Todd Rokita offered up an additional amendment to tax reform legislation that would repeal the medical device excise tax.

“Medical device companies in Indiana generate more than $10 billion in economic output annually and they employ more than 20,000 Hoosiers. These same companies spend millions of dollars researching new ways to improve healthcare for our country and the entire world,” said Congressman Rokita.  “Elimination of this excise tax means helping Hoosiers keep their jobs, and it also means the door for medical innovation remains open.”

The Medical Device Excise Tax was created to support Obamacare, however Obamacare has already failed. This tax does not have a tangible benefit. Governor Eric Holcomb similarly supports removal of the medical device tax.
