Rokita Leading the Way on Natural Disaster Relief Preparedness

KOKOMO, IN–Congressman Todd Rokita is leading the effort to ensure our
communities are educated and prepared when a natural disaster hits. He
made the following statement after hosting a roundtable discussion.

“Even though we cannot predict God’s will when it comes to natural
disasters, let’s prepare ourselves for God’s will. That’s why I
wanted to bring together community leaders from every corner of
Indiana’s fourth congressional district to talk about best practices
for preparing for a natural disaster and the recovery after,” said
Congressman Todd Rokita. “I have been in several of our communities
after natural disasters including Kokomo which was struck by horrific
natural disasters both in 2013 and in 2016 when a tornado wreaked havoc
on this community. The destruction was astounding, but so was the
resilience and organization behind this community. Their leaders
including: Howard County Commissioner Paul Wyman, Janice Hart the
Director of Howard County EMA, Howard County Sheriff Steve Rogers, and
Randy Morris the Controller for the City of Kokomo were instrumental in
natural disaster relief. After seeing their work repairing Kokomo, I
wanted to give all of our local leaders the opportunity to talk with
them. I know it’s relatively beautiful weather now, but that gives us
time to have these conversations and prepare.”

Congressman Rokita has come to many Indiana communities to help in the
recovery effort after a natural disaster including: Lebanon, Logansport,
Lafayette, West Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, Hendricks County, Cass
County, Montgomery County, Jasper County, and White County.
