Rep. Thompson: Hendricks County natives gain experience interning at Statehouse

STATEHOUSE (March 25, 2025) – Hendricks County natives Cray Dolder and Dalton Jackson are gaining experience as interns with State Rep. Jeff Thompson (R- Lizton) and his fellow members of the Indiana House of Representatives during the 2025 legislative session.

“Cray and Dalton are doing amazing work at the Statehouse this session,” Thompson said. “The help they’re providing legislators and constituents is invaluable as we work to address some of the biggest issues facing our state.”

Dolder, a Tri-West High School graduate, is the son of Katie and Corey Dolder. He is currently a junior at Purdue University, and majoring in political science and global studies and minoring in psychology.

“I love the feeling of making a real difference,” Dolder said. “This has been a really rewarding experience and I am thankful for the opportunity to work with our lawmakers at the Statehouse.”

As a policy intern, Dolder conducts research, prepares committee reports, and assists staff and lawmakers with legislative and fiscal inquiries.

Jackson, a Tri-West High School graduate, is the son of Katrina Martin and Jeff Jackson. He is a recent graduate of Indiana University Bloomington and majored in law and public policy with a minor in entrepreneurship and small business management.

“The internship has been great. I’m happy to give my time to what feels like a greater cause – something bigger than just myself. Contributing to the policy process for state government feels meaningful, ” Jackson said. “Getting to work alongside some of the greatest people only makes it that much more worthwhile to come into work every day.”

As a legislative intern, Jackson corresponds with constituents through phone calls, letters and emails while also staffing committee hearings and floor proceedings.

At the start of each year, the House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law-school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of the annual legislative session.
