Plainfield Police Department Police Chief Appoints New Deputy Chief

PLAINFIELD, IN – Plainfield Police Department Chief of Police, Jared McKee, has appointed Detective Joe Aldridge as the new Deputy Chief to replace Jill Lees. The Town of Plainfield announced the resignation of Lees earlier today, she will be stepping into the role as Chief of Police at IU Bloomington on March 4, 2019. Aldridge will begin the transition to his new role immediately.

“It is with great honor that I am able to appoint Joe Aldridge to the position of Deputy Chief of Support,” said McKee. “He has been a steadfast leader with the Plainfield Police Department and embodies the principle of servant leadership. Joe has served in a variety of roles giving him a good foundation for the promotion to Deputy Chief.”

Joe Aldridge has served with the Plainfield Police Department since 2002. During his 16-plus years of service, he has served in several different capacities including patrol, ERT, bicycle patrol and Honor Guard. Aldridge was assigned to the Investigations Branch in 2006. He has worked on the United Drug Task Force as a narcotics detective, and for the last two years he has served as Detective Sergeant in Investigations. Joe Aldridge is a CVSA (Computer Voice Stress Analysis) operator and specializes in interviewing and interrogation. Aldridge is a 2001 graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement academy, 2017 graduate of the Public Service Leadership Institute, and has a Criminal Justice Bachelor Degree from the University of Indianapolis. Joe Aldridge serves on the police department’s pension board and serves as a 3rd grade Sunday school teacher at Plainfield Christian Church.

Joe Aldridge is happily married to his wife Martha of 16 years and has two sons, Carter and Jack.   In his spare time he enjoys riding his motorcycle, hunting, collecting antiques, and his sons sporting events.

“I look forward to having Joe part of the administrative team and strongly believe in his vision for the support branch of the department. He has the utmost desire to serve and engage in the community,” said Chief McKee.

As Deputy Chief, Aldridge will be in charge of the Support Services, Detective and Records Branches of the department.
