Putnam County—This evening at 6:50, Indiana State Police Senior Trooper David Petrowski radar tracked a 2016 Yamaha motorcycle on westbound US 40 near County Road 200 West, at 74 miles-per-hour in a 55mph zone. As Petrowski attempted to stop the motorcycle, the driver fled north on Manhattan Road from US 40, at times reaching speeds near 100mph. Near County Road 550 South, the cyclist failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the roadway. At that time, he was taken into custody by Senior Trooper Petrowski. This was less than ten minutes after the initial clock.
The driver was identified as 26-year-old Andrew French of Plainfield, IN. French was incarcerated in the Putnam County Jail on preliminary charges of Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle (felony) and Reckless Driving (Misdemeanor).
Assisting were Troopers Austin Fowler and David Cox Jr. and Seniours Towing.
Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
