Plainfield Follows the Guidance of Governor’s Back on Track Plan for Town Facilities

PLAINFIELD, IN — The Town of Plainfield Town Council President, Robin Brandgard, signed an Executive Order on May 5^th, which lays out a timeline to reopen Town facilities. This timeline aligns with Governor Eric Holcomb’s Back on Track Indiana Executive Order. On March 23^rd, Brandgard signed his first Executive Order which closed Town of Plainfield facilities and sent non-essential staff to work from home when possible.

“Town leaders continue to follow the guidance of Governor Eric Holcomb,” said Brandgard. “We have made decisions that make the most sense for the Town of Plainfield when considering opening our most frequented facilities like the Richard A. Carlucci Recreation & Aquatic Center and Splash Island Waterpark.”

Under the newest Plainfield Return to Work Executive Order, the Richard A. Carlucci Recreation Center will open Sunday, May 24^th to members, only allowing fitness workouts and no group classes. Playgrounds and outdoor courts, such as basketball courts, pickleball courts and tennis courts, will open on May 24^th with the restriction of no group play. The Indoor Splash Island Aquatic Center will open, for lap swimming only, on Sunday, June 14^th. Sports league facilities and fields will be open on Sunday, June 14^th. Splash Island Outdoor Waterpark will open July 4^th weekend, with no restrictions. As a reminder, the Town Council approved extensions to Richard A. Carlucci Recreation & Aquatic Center memberships for the duration of the closure.

“We want to make sure our residents and visitors maintain social distancing as we work through this timeline,” said Brandgard. “Our public-facing facilities will have floor decals and increased disinfection practices, along with signs to make sure everyone remains safe while visiting our facilities.”

The Town of Plainfield town offices will open, by appointment only, on Monday, May 25^th; offices will begin scheduling those appointments via telephone on Monday, May 18^th. The Town of Plainfield continues to conduct essential business. There continues to be no disruption to core public safety and public utility operations. Town Council meetings will still take place virtually with a limited agenda and limited attendance.

The Town of Plainfield is committed to protecting public health and safety personnel and other critical operations, including police, fire, emergency dispatch, water, sanitation, and other essential services, with additional protocols to reduce the risk of transmission. An Emergency Response Team was formed and has made plans to address possible interruptions to critical Town operations and new social-distancing policies moving forward.

The Town of Plainfield continues to urge people to practice social distancing. The Plainfield Resident Assistance Program can be used to obtain groceries or pharmaceuticals for high-risk populations.
