Plainfield, IN – The Plainfield Chamber of Commerce, host of the annual Plainfield Quaker Day Parade, is proud to announce that the parade will return to Main Street/U.S.- 40 this year.
Since 1979, the annual Quaker Day Parade has been a part of Plainfield’s fall festivities. For most of the parade’s history, it traveled along Main Street (U.S. 40), also known as the National Road. About a decade ago, INDOT’s reconstruction led to rerouting the parade to a much smaller parallel road, Buchanan Street, where the parade has remained until this year.
“The Plainfield Chamber of Commerce has been pursuing this since last year, and we are excited to announce that it has finally been approved,” said Plainfield Chamber Board Chairman Rick Shaw. “There are many details that will need to be finalized, but we are giving something back to the Town of Plainfield and the residents that support our businesses. With support from the Chamber and the community, we hope to make this the best Quaker Day Parade that’s ever been.”
The parade will take place on Saturday, September 21
beginning at 10 a.m. The route will begin at the Plainfield Offices of this
year’s parade Presenting Sponsor, Duke Energy and will continue down Main
Street/U.S. 40 to the Al & Jan Barker Athletic Complex on Vestal Road.
