Operation Round Up Contributes to Putnam County Operation Life

On behalf of Hendricks Power Cooperative and its members, a $750 donation was made to Putnam County Operation Life. This is the sole county-designated agency responsible for providing out-of-hospital care and ambulance transportation to a hospital using Indiana state licensed advanced life support ambulances.

The donation will allow the agency to purchase four protective “three-in-one” all season duty coats for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) crews. These coats are waterproof, windproof and bloodborne resistant. Each year their EMS crews respond to more than 3,300 ambulance requests in Putnam, Hendricks, Morgan, Owen, Parke and Clay Counties.

The combined protective features of these coats will help keep crews safe while assisting the residents served.

The agency was established in 1974 and was the first rural EMS agency to receive medical control from Methodist Hospital.

“Putnam County Operation Life is critical in the community,” said Dana Cochran, Director of Marketing & Member Engagement at Hendricks Power Cooperative. “These EMS crews are working 24/7 and are responsible for an extremely large territory. We are thankful for their dedication and will continue to support their services in the future.”

Operation Round-Up is a voluntary fundraising program that lets members round-up their energy bill to the next whole dollar- the difference is then deposited into the Hendricks Power Cooperative Operation Round-Up Fund which is held at the Putnam County Community Foundation. Together, Hendricks Power and the Community Foundation determine the most appropriate uses to benefit the community. Anyone interested in receiving funds for the good of the community can contact us for our guidelines and an application.
