Detectives arrested suspect Stephen Cole on a preliminary charge of resisting arrest. As detectives continue their investigation and the injured suspect Gerald Cole continues to recover it is likely that he will also face charges. Both suspects could face multiple charges once the investigation has been finalized.

The involved officer has been identified as Officer James Perry who has been employed with IMPD since June of 2014 and assigned to the East District. Officer Perry is currently on Administrative Leave receiving the necessary professional coping services that are expected of an officer involved in a traumatic event.

This is an active investigation, and detectives continue to urge anyone with information or eyewitness accounts to come forward by calling investigators at (317) 327-3475. Investigators will be consulting with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office as the investigation proceeds to levy the appropriate charges against the involved suspects.
