Local Avon Student Awarded Scholarship

INDIANAPOLIS – July 30, 2019 – The retired membership of the Indiana State Teachers Association awarded two scholarships valued at more than $2,500 each at an awards luncheon on Thursday, July 25. Local Avon High School graduate Katie Sesslar was one of the scholarship recipients.

Sesslar has been actively involved in school and community activities throughout her high school career, including participation in the Avon Community Schools Ambassador Program and the National Honor Society and as a volunteer at American Senior Community’s Nursing Home and Hendricks Regional Health Hospital.

She plans to pursue a career in nursing and will attend the University of Southern Indiana this fall.

Sesslar was nominated by her step-mom, Kristin Sesslar, who is a member of the Mill Creek Classroom Teachers Association.
