ISP Responds to School Bus and Vehicle Collision in Putnam County

Putnam County—Indiana State Police and Putnam County emergency agencies responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a school bus on County Road 800 West just north of US 40 Wednesday afternoon.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2005 Lincoln LS, driven by 30-year-old Brandi L. Brown of Reelsville, IN., was southbound on CR 800 West traveling over a hillcrest. A northbound 2012 Thomas brand school bus from the South Putnam School Corporation, driven by 71-year-old Phyllis M. Curry of Brownsburg, IN., was northbound at the same location. As the vehicles reached the hillcrest, the Lincoln appeared to be left of center and collided head-on with the bus.

Brandi Brown was extricated from the car by Reelsville Fire/Rescue and transported to St. Vincent Clay Hospital in Brazil for treatment of shoulder and back pain by Putnam County Operation Life. She was cited for left of center and having no financial responsibility.

Phyllis Curry and her three teenage passengers were medically evaluated at the scene and released.

The crash was investigated by Trooper James Crisp. Assisting were ISP Lieutenant Brent Johnson and Troopers DuJuan Presley-McFadden and John Myers, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Putnam County Operation Life, and Reelsville Fire/Rescue.
