IndyGo to Boost Service on July 4

INDIANAPOLIS (June 28, 2017) – On Wednesday, July 4, IndyGo will run added bus service from downtown to safely transport Indy residents and visitors home after the IPL Downtown Freedom Blast fireworks.

On July 4 at 11:00 p.m., 21 additional buses will depart from the Julia. M. Carson Transit Center at 201 E. Washington Street. Please note: buses will only be dropping off passengers along these added trips.

Buses will be at the Transit Center, not Capitol Ave. and Market St. & Ohio St. and Capitol Ave. as in previous years.

IndyGo’s Service Hours for July 4:

  • Local Routes: Operating on a Sunday schedule
  • Open Door: Operating on a Sunday schedule
  • Julia M. Carson Transit Center: 6:00 a.m. –  11:00 p.m.
  • Customer Service Call Center: Closed
  • Retail and Customer Service Center at the Transit Center: Closed
  • Administrative Office: Closed

Keep in mind, IndyGo’s Quick Trip Planner and transit directions on Google Maps will not reflect the special schedule or detours due to street closures and special events. In the event the Freedom Fest is rained out, IndyGo will still operate the additional 11:00 p.m. trips.

Several special events on Friday, July 4 will greatly impact service causing detours and delays. Passengers should plan ahead and allow plenty of time for travel to their destinations on Independence Day. Please visit our website or call Customer Service (317.635.3344) before July 4 to find out if your trips will be impacted.
