Indy Chamber Launches “Buy Indy” Campaign to Support Small Businesses While Sheltering in Place

(INDIANAPOLIS) – In an effort to further support small businesses and encourage the public to comply with recommended state and local health protocols, the Indy Chamber launched the Buy Indy campaign today to help business owners inform customers about changes in their business offerings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and uplift regional initiatives in support of local goods and services. Small business owners, organizations, and community members can download a marketing kit from BuyIndy.org to aid in promotional efforts.

“The best thing we can do right now to help our small business community is to stay at home and abide by the recommendations of our healthcare professionals,” noted Indy Chamber President and CEO Michael Huber. “The faster we flatten the curve and stop the spread of this virus, the faster our economy can recover. The Buy Indy campaign is a way for all of us who are staying safe at home to show our support for our most creative entrepreneurs and businesses.”

Local small business owners are encouraged to take a vertical video via their smartphone or other smart device describing how the public can now purchase their goods or services and upload it to BuyIndy.org. These videos will be shared via the platforms and social media channels of the Indy Chamber and its partners via the hashtag #BuyIndy.

Several local businesses have already stepped up in support of the Buy Indy campaign, including content and consultation from CVR, Hirons, and Top Shot Aerial Photography.

This campaign comes on the heels of the #INThisTogether initiative launched by Governor Eric Holcomb, Mayor Joe Hogsett, the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, and other major organizations earlier this week encouraging citizens across Indiana to stop the spread of COVID-19 through social distancing and stay-at-home directives.
