INDOT Adding Resources to Attack Indy-area Interstate Potholes

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Transportation is adding additional maintenance crews and bringing on contractor resources to address potholes forming on the Indianapolis metro area interstates resulting from the recent freeze-thaw conditions.

INDOT has more than doubled the number of maintenance crews focused on patching potholes in the Indianapolis area this week.

Most crews will be working overnight to maintain the safety of drivers and INDOT workers.

Nine crews are assigned to pothole patching overnight in the area indefinitely. At least two crews will be active during daytime hours to address emergency potholes during peak times and perform patching on U.S. and State highways as needed.

INDOT crews will be focused on the following segments:

  • I-69 from 96th St. to I-465
  • I-465 from US 421/Michigan Rd. to I-69
  • I-465 from I-69 to I-70
  • I-70 from I-465 to Mount Comfort Rd.
  • I-70 from I-465 to the North Split
  • I-65 from 38th St to South Split
  • I-65 from the South Split to County Line Rd
  • I-465 from I-70 to State Road 37/Harding St. (Southeast side)
  • I-65 from 38th St to I-865
  • I-865 from I-65 to I-465
  • I-465 from U.S. 421/Michigan Rd. to I-74 (Northwest side)
  • I-465 from I-74 to State Road 37 (Southwest side)
  • I-70 from the South Split to Ronald Reagan Pkwy.

INDOT is also contracting with Rieth-Riley Construction, Milestone Contractors, and E&B paving to strip pave three sections of interstate, including:

  • I-65 near Southport Rd.
  • I-65 N near 71st St.
  • Southeast corner of I-465

INDOT reminds drivers to slow down when they see a crew working on the road and give them plenty of space to do their job.
