Indianapolis Man Arrested for Interstate Shooting on I-465

Indianapolis, IN – Yesterday evening, around 6:00, Indiana State Police Dispatchers received a 911 call from a person on I-465 indicated the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu had fired multiple shots toward them. The incident occurred on I-465 northbound near Washington Street on the east side of Indianapolis. Information about the incident was relayed from the dispatchers to troopers in the area who were able to quickly locate the Chevrolet Malibu. Troopers pulled over the Malibu on Post Road near 25th Street and took the driver into custody. 

An investigation into the incident led troopers to believe 20 year old Javier Johnson of Indianapolis, fired multiple shots with a handgun during an alleged road rage incident on I-465. Johnson was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail on preliminary charges of criminal recklessness and possession of a handgun by a prohibited person. 

This investigation is ongoing and there is no further information to release at this time. Johnson was arrested on probable cause of a crime, the charges listed are preliminary, formal charges will be determined by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. All suspects are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
