IMPD Homicide Detectives arrest two people in connection with weekend homicide

INDIANAPOLIS… On Sunday October 7,2018 at 2:25 a.m. Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were dispatched to 7410 E 21st  Street in response to a caller stating someone there had been shot.  Officers arrived and found 30-year-old William Jeremy-Simmons of Indianapolis suffering from apparent gunshot  wounds.  Mr. Simmons was pronounced deceased on the scene by medics.

Homicide detectives responded and immediately began canvassing the area for witnesses. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist in identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence.
On Tuesday October 9,2018 through coordination and cooperation between IMPD Detectives, The U.S Marshalls Office and our Law Enforcement partners at Lawrence Police Department (LPD), David Wood and Damen Lake were arrested and transported to Marion County Jail. During the investigation LPD Officers were able to locate a handgun that IMPD Homicide Detectives believe is the murder weapon.

Today’s arrest comes as a result of Community Policing, good ole fashioned gum shoe police tactics, and modern technology.

Collectively with law enforcement of all levels working together to protect our communities.
