IMPD Homicide Detectives Arrest Plainfield Man After Road Rage Murder

COMMUNITY MESSAGE: INDIANAPOLIS – On February 16, 2019, just after 8:00 p.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were dispatched to the 3900 block of Wind Drift Dr. E. on a person shot.  When officers arrived, they came into contact with an adult male who had been shot.  Indianapolis EMS responded and pronounced the male deceased at the scene. 

Homicide detectives responded to the scene and began speaking with potential witnesses.  The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist with identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner’s Office will be assisting in determining the exact manner and cause of death of the victim. The MCCO will release the name of the victim once proper next-of-kin notification has been made.

Homicide detectives determined that the cause of the shooting was road rage.  Detectives identified the alleged suspect involved in the fatal shooting as 33-year-old Dustin Passarelli of Plainfield, Indiana for his alleged involvement in the homicide.  Passarelli was arrested and charged with murder.

Homicide Detectives are looking for any additional witnesses that may have seen the road rage incident on 465 Southbound around 7:30 p.m, north of the 38th Street Exit on 2.16. 2019. 

A charge of a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
