IMPD East District Flex team arrest two men for weapon and narcotic charges

INDIANAPOLIS –  On February 6, 2019 Officers with Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) East District detectives arrested Omar Jones (28) and Jeremiah Vinson (32) for weapons and narcotics offenses.

Just after 11:00 a.m. IMPD East District Flex team assisted the Marion County Probation department with a probation check on Omar Jones in the 400 block of N. Kealing Ave. During the Probation check officers observed several narcotic items in the residence. 

With what began as IMPD and Marion County Probation assisting each other developed into what appeared to be a drug dealing operation at the residence.  At this point a search warrant was applied for and executed related to the entire home.

Officers recovered multiple containers of marijuana, multiple jars containing suspected Xanax pills, digital scales and various drug paraphernalia throughout the house. Officers also recovered a 9mm weapon.

Both Omar Jones and Jeremiah Vinson were arrested for several preliminary charges including, serious violent felon in possession of a firearm, illegal firearm with narcotics possession, dealing in controlled substance, dealing in marijuana, possession of numerus controlled substances and maintaining a common nuisance. The Marion County Prosecutors Office will review the case and make a charging decision.

IMPD continues to crack down on the illegal possession of firearms as part of the City’s violence reduction strategy.

A charge of a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
