IMPD Detectives make an arrest in weekend homicide

INDIANAPOLIS –  On February 5, 2019 Homicide detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) arrest a man for his involvement in a homicide which occurred in the 3900 block of Glen Arm Rd.

On February 4, 2019, just after 12:31 a.m. officers with the IMPD were dispatched to 3900 block of Glen Arm Rd. about a person shot.  Responding officers located a male in the parking lot with an apparent gunshot wound. Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and pronounced the male deceased at the scene.

The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist in identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner Office (MCCO) assisted and will determine the exact manner and cause of death. The MCCO will release the name of the victim once proper next-of-kin notification has been made.

Homicide detectives responded to 3900 block of Glen Arm road and immediately began canvassing the area for witnesses.  Detectives identified a person of interest as Damon Lewis Jr. (19).  Lewis was subsequently arrested for his alleged involvement in this homicide.  Lewis was preliminarily charged with murder. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case and make a charging decision
This incident should serve as a message to those seeking to commit violence in Indianapolis, that they will be held accountable. Violence will not be tolerated by IMPD or the Indianapolis community.
