IMPD and DEA arrest a man on federal narcotics and weapon charges

Gabriel McQuay

INDIANAPOLIS: On January 18, 2018, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) and Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Agents arrested 36-year-old Gabriel McQuay for the federal charges of possession with the intent to distribute narcotics, as well as a felon in possession of a firearm.

Law enforcement received a tip that McQuay was selling heroin out of a home in the 6900 block of Michigan Road.  Using various investigative techniques, including controlled buys, detectives developed probable cause for a search warrant.  During the search of the home, officers seized approximately 250 grams of heroin/fentanyl and a stolen .40 caliber, Glock model 22 handgun.  On February 6, 2018, McQuay was formally charged by a Federal Grand Jury.

This investigation is a part of an ongoing collaboration between the IMPD and the DEA, utilizing a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) initiative.  This partnership between local and federal agencies seeks to identify and hold accountable those persons and drug trafficking organizations who terrorize communities by dealing narcotics

The Indianapolis community is essential in helping to identify those involved in elicit and/or illegal activity.  The IMPD and our federal partners are grateful for the community’s assistance in this case.  Because of your help we are making Indianapolis a better place for all.  We are, One City.
