(Brownsburg) WYRZ is excited to announce that Hendricks Power Cooperative has the exclusive naming rights to the 98.9 WYRZ’s broadcasting studio. Now the voice of Hendricks County will be broadcasting from “The Hendricks Power Cooperative Studio.” This continued venture with Hendricks Power Cooperative began on August 1, 2024, and will continue for 17 months.
Hendricks Power Cooperative is among the nation’s largest energy network, which for 88 years has delivered electricity to its consumers at the most affordable price possible and helps service rural and sparsely populated areas. Electric cooperatives alone serve 32 million customers in 46 states.
Hendricks Power Cooperative also serves Hendricks County through a program called Operation Round Up. Operation Round Up is a voluntary fundraising program where customers donate spare change on their energy bill. Customers who agree to participate has their energy bill every month “round up” to the next dollar, where the amount never exceeds 99 cents, to help those in need in our community. The difference goes to a special fund administered by the Hendricks Power Advisory Board which distributes the money back into the community. Recent donations include Pittsboro Elementary School Robotics, Susie’s Place Child Advocacy Centers and North Salem Volunteer Fire Rescue with previous donations to Sheltering Wings, Misty Eyes Animal Center, Brownsburg Fire Territory, B&O Trail and My Putnam County.
Hendricks Power Cooperative has supported WYRZ throughout the years with underwriting radio programs and having the naming rights of the studio.
