Hendricks County Soil & Water Conservation District Presents Loughmiller Stewardship Award at Annual Meeting

Hendricks County Soil & Water Conservation District Natural Resources Conservationist Bree Ollier and Vickie Loughmiller present the Loughmiller Stewardship Award to Walnut Farm manager Mike Warner during the district’s recent 71st annual meeting. Farm owners Steve and Jennifer Wyreater’s conservation projects spanning more than 30 years include a nine-acre lake, tree stand improvement and periodic timber harvests at the property near North Salem. Nearly 30 acres of field borders and 10 acres of grass waterways improve water quality reaching Big Walnut Creek. Habitat and food source developments sustain a wide variety of wildlife found on the farm. Continuing efforts reduce erosion and improve soil health.
