Hendricks County Bicentennial Committee Endorses Five More Requests; Recognizes 4-H Fair Projects

DANVILLE (Sept. 17, 2024) – The Hendricks County Bicentennial Committee has endorsed five additional events and projects celebrating the county’s 200 years and 35 Bicentennial-themed 4-H Fair projects this month.  

The most recent endorsements bring the county’s goal of 100 by the end of the year within reach. A total of 87 events and projects have received endorsement.

The Bicentennial Committee hopes civic groups, municipalities, businesses and all members of the community will be inspired to create Bicentennial projects that leave a legacy for future generations as well as events both current and new that include some kind of Bicentennial or history element.

It’s not too late to submit your idea to the Bicentennial Committee for official endorsement and upon approval, applicants will have the use of all Bicentennial logos, a listing on the Bicentennial website and additional support by reaching the community through a press release sent to local media.

This month’s endorsements included the Old Fashion Day festivities over Labor Day weekend. Also in North Salem, visitors can stop by McCloud Nature Park throughout the fall season to see the park’s own take on the official Bicentennial logo in the annual McCloud Prairie Maze.

The Hendricks County Emergency Management team will make challenge coins with their logo and the Hendricks County Bicentennial logo to mark the special year.

The Hendricks County Amateur Radio Society will operate a ham radio special event Oct. 12-26. Over the course of two weeks, members will share information about the Bicentennial with other ham radio operators across the country and world.

For those interested in a Halloween-themed Bicentennial event, join the Avon -Washington Township Public Library’s Club 512 for a special event for teens, fifth through 12th grade.

The Bicentennial Committee also recognized the 4-H students who received a unique Bicentennial commemorative ribbon for their project during the weeklong Fair. All 35 projects were approved for official endorsement.

Endorsements included: Marguerite Sears with an Animal Education Poster; Madison Alberts, Samuel Dunkel, Roman Kmicekewcz, Adelaide Mabanta, Archie McMichael, Cole Smith and Meredith Wray with Arts and Crafts projects; Lauren Beck, Graci O’Neal and Colt Stanley with their Cake Decorating projects; Brady Bauersock, Dane Emsweller and Chase Doub with their Collections projects; Andrew Herbert with a Communications project; Raelea Emsweller, Sadie Henry, Elizabeth Hunt, Graci O’Neal and Colt Stanley for their Create Your Own Thing projects; Logan Parsons for his Crops project; Jenna Beck and Marguerite Sears for their Dog Poster projects; Chase Doub for his Floraculture project; Raelea Emsweller and Riley Smith for their Food Preparation projects; Michael Henry with an Electricity project; Lauren Beck and Memphis Johnson and their Gift Wrapping projects; Sadie Henry, Elizabeth Hunt and Alexander Johnson Edgar for their Our Environment projects and Randolph Badger III, Hannah Smith and Bailey Stanley for their Photography projects.
