Gunshot victim dies; IMPD Homicide Detectives investigating as Criminal Homicide

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) homicide detectives are investigating a criminal homicide after victim succumbs to injuries received on April 12.

On April 12th, 2016 just after 1:30 a.m., IMPD officers responded to the 2700 block of S Shelby St, on reports of a person shot. Upon arrival officers located the victim, Maurice Hill of Indianapolis, lying on the floor of a residence suffering from at least one gunshot wound. EMS personnel responded and quickly transported the victim to Eskenazi in critical condition.

IMPD aggravated assault and homicide detectives went to the scene and coordinated efforts to locate and interview witnesses. Marion County – Indianapolis Forensic Services Agency was also called out to process the crime scene and collect any possible forensic evidence. The shooting was updated to a criminal homicide after the victim died from his injuries at Eskenazi hospital on April 24th, 2016. Detectives have not released any suspect information at this time.
